SoCal BBQ Bash and Expo wants to help you rethink what you know about BBQ. Our special guest chefs will teach you to cook with local and fresh ingredients, using a unique array of cooking techniques that involve a BBQ grill or smoker. The chef’s lead hands-on classes, offering step-by-step instructions with both general how-to’s and specific recipes.
You will learn the tips and tricks while gaining such skills to create the perfect meal for your friends and family– putting you on the culinary map. Yes, you will sample food.
These premium cooking classes require advanced registration. Seating is limited.

The owner of Bigmista’s Barbecue & Sammich Shop and Bigmista’s Morning Wood, both in Long Beach. The barbecue restaurants are run by husband-and-wife team Neil and Phyllis Strawder, best known for their signature wood-smoked brisket. Strawder has been an anchor in BBQ arena, recognized for skills on the grill and his dedication to the industry. Many recognize him from his appearances on television cooking shows such as Man, Fire, Food, The Great Food Truck and BBQ Pitmaster’s and he is also featured in the Arby’s commercial.
